Get the top coach for your sports career

Although the Springboks might not have made it to the 2015 Rugby World Cup finals, sport in South Africa is far from dead. On the contrary, South Africa lives and breathes sport. So someone with adiploma in sports managementhas loads of opportunities ahead of them.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re interested in athletics, rugby, soccer, cricket, tennis or any other sport. If it’s a sport, it’s likely to be played in South Africa. The good news about this is there are athletes who want to be trained, grounds that need to be managed, sponsorships that must be negotiated and sport development that needs to take place.

As you can see, with the right training there are quite a few opportunities waiting for you. But sports management goes further than just sport. It moves into the world of fitness as well. The modern world is obsessed with six-pack abs and lean waists. It means that there’s a high demand for fitness experts.

Apart from the work opportunities in sports management there’s also the benefit of working in a field that you’re actually interested in. Many of us grew up with sport and fitness and fell in love with it. However, very few have the opportunity, or the desire to become professional athletes. This career gives you the chance to stay close to your passion while earning a salary.

Before you work up a sweat, some study needs to be done. And there really is no better place to do so than at Varsity College. Not only do we understand and share your passion for sport, we encourage it. We also help students reach career goals with our Career Centre. It also means we can help you get in touch with industry experts and employers.

"It isn't the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it's the pebble in your shoe."
