Graduate Empowerment Workshop A Great Success

The Varsity College Alumni department recently hosted the first annual Graduate Empowerment Workshop at the Westville campus. The aim of the workshop was to equip recently qualified graduates with the necessary practical work readiness skills needed to enter the job market. Graduates from Durban, Westville as well as Pietermaritzburg were invited.

“This successful initiative allowed graduates to be inspired, encouraged and equipped for the job market. Graduates heard from a range of industry specialists who covered topics such as; how to stay motivated while search for a job, CV tips and advice, interview questions and techniques, personal branding, dressing for success as well as goal setting, just to mention a few,” says Andrea van den Berg, National Alumni Co-ordinator at Varsity College.

The workshop would not have been as effective as it was without the invaluable contribution from industry experts who allowed the graduates to gain practical experience through mock interviews and interactive sessions.

“The Graduate Empowerment Workshop was exactly what I needed to inspire me and to assist me with my job search. It also feels great to know that my institution cares about what happens to us after we graduate,” says Aadil, former Varsity College student.

The Varsity College Alumni community is growing and developing daily. Many exciting projects have been planned and will be rolled out later in 2015.
