Description of your duties on a daily basis

• Schedule meetings, record minutes and file invoices
• Create content and images for Altron’s social media channels
• Provide support in selection of on-board agencies
• Develop site maps and source potential suppliers for the portal

Why did you choose the qualification you studied?

I’m an extrovert who enjoys interacting with people and I wanted a qualification that allowed me to use my creativity, communication skills and interpersonal skills in the workplace.

Is your qualification relevant to your job? If so, did your studies adequately prepare you for your job?

Yes, my qualification is relevant to my job. My studies taught me marketing techniques.

What is your greatest achievement to date career wise?

Having the opportunity to work on a television commercial for Altron as well as being part of a brand reveal for the company..

What are your future career plans?

I would like to open my own marketing agency

How has the Career Centre assisted you while you were at The IIE’s Varsity College?

It is through the Career Centre that I got the opportunity to work for Altron, a JSE listed company.

What was the one thing that stood out the most for you about Varsity College?

They have passionate lecturers who go the extra mile for students.

What advice would you give to students who are looking for or about to embark on their first job?

Be patient and keep applying for jobs. Always have the big picture of your future plans.
