The newly formed VC Athletics Club, based in KZN, Gauteng North, Eastern Cape, and registered with Athletics South Africa in those provinces, welcomes students and the public around the country to become members. The club caters for a variety of disciplines like road running, trail running, track and field and for students that are track and field specialists, the Athletics Club provides the opportunity to compete at all ASA events and the annual USSA Athletics Championships in April. Many of the campus sports clubs use the running club sessions as their own fitness sessions. Trail running offers students the opportunity to experience some of the most beautiful landscapes, and the newly developed eco-trail based on the Westville campus is an example of this.
